Croydon Tram Disaster: Driver Acquitted

Miles Bennett, leading Archie Mackay and instructed by Gary Rubin and Trevor Francis of Blackfords LLP, successfully defended Alf Dorris, the driver of a tram that derailed and overturned in Sandilands, Croydon.

Mr Dorris was charged with failing to take reasonable care of his own and his passengers safety, contrary to section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

After a five week trial before Mr Justice Fraser in court number 1 at the Old Bailey , Mr Dorris was unanimously acquitted in less than two hours.
