Charlene Sumnall and Carolina Bracken successful prosecution

Charlene Sumnall leading Carolina Bracken instructed by the CPS Complex Case work division successfully prosecuted 5 defendants for False Imprisonment, Blackmail, Encouraging an Offender and POCA offences.

The defendants received sentences of up to 18 years imprisonment.  The case was particularly complex as the victims were former members of the defendant's County Line gang and as victims of modern slavery were particularly vulnerable.  There were 2 distinct episodes of False Imprisonment and Blackmail, the second being instigated by the first victim's former girlfriend who lied to the OCG that he was planning to steal their drugs and money.
