James Nash secures blackmail acquittal

James Nash secured an acquittal for his client, a father of 3 facing deportation, after a 5-day blackmail trial at Salisbury Crown Court

The prosecution alleged that James’s client had secretly filmed sexual acts with another man, and then threatened to publicise the videos and reveal his sexuality. The defence case was that the complainant had drugged and assaulted James’s client, and transferred him money in an attempt to buy his silence. As a foreign national, the client would have been subject to automatic deportation if convicted. After a 5-day trial, the jury unanimously acquitted James’s client of blackmail.

James was instructed by Bez Masih of Masih Devitt Solicitors and Moses Uzodima-Tawo of Christob Solicitors.
