Deanna Heer has secured the conviction of Guy Unmack for the murder of Rosemary Hill, aged 87.
In an unprovoked attack, Unmack, who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, killed the victim when he struck her head with a cricket bat.
Following a trial at Guildford Crown Court, the jury rejected his defence of diminished responsibility. Unmack was today sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years.
