Ryan Evans

Ryan Evans both prosecutes and defends in cases spanning the full spectrum of criminal work. As a member of the CPS General Crime Panel at Level 2, he is regularly instructed in cases concerning Class A drug supply, serious violence, driving offences, fraud, and domestic abuse. He also appears in the magistrates’ court when instructed to defend in driving cases, often advancing successful arguments in relation to driving disqualification.

Ryan represents healthcare professionals on a regular basis, appearing before the Nursing & Midwifery Council at substantive fitness to practice hearings, as well as representing healthcare professionals at inquests.

Ryan has been instructed to prosecute cases on behalf of local authorities. Recent cases have concerned Unfair Trading, breaches of an abatement notice, and breaches of a criminal behaviour order.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Ryan worked as a paralegal at the Infected Blood Inquiry, managing a document review project and drafting discrete sections of the Inquiry Report. He is therefore familiar with the internal workings of a public inquiry and has experience of managing a large scale document review project.

Ryan co-authored the second edition of ‘A Practitioner’s Guide to Ancillary Orders in Criminal Courts’ with Dr Elaine Freer, published in 2024.
