Nurse found to have tampered doctor’s prescription given caution

Kate Parker, instructed by Jennifer Richardson of Blackfords LLP, represented a nurse in fitness to practice proceedings.

The nurse was found to have manually altered a doctor’s prescription, with the dishonest intention of convincing others that the prescription was genuine. The altered dosage was then administered to the patient.

After a four-day hearing before the Fitness to Practice Committee, involving 5 contested witnesses for the Nursing and Midwifery Council, the nurse was not found to present an ongoing clinical risk to patients. She received a 3-year caution order.
