Two men sentenced following murder trial

Deanna Heer, led by Crispin Aylett QC, secured the conviction of two men accused of murdering a student who was shot while sitting in a car in west London.

Phillip Fashakin and Juskiran Sidhu shot Hashim Ali in what the Judge described as an "ruthless and brutal act" as part of a drug-dealing feud. After the shooting Fashakin and Sidhu walked calmly away from the scene and went to a cinema to hide, before going on the run for many days. They have both been sentenced to a minimum of 30 years, following a four week trial at the Old Bailey.

The case received widespread media attention. See, for example, The Mirror and BBC.
