Successful defence of nanny accused of stalking ex partner

Richard Padley defended Timea Csomorova during a six day trial at the Central Criminal Court. Ms Csomorova was accused of stalking her ex partner over a period of over three years. She was alleged to have attended his property, sent him messages and an unsigned Christmas card, as well as following him in and around various coffee shops around Hampstead.

Following deliberation for around 12 hours the jury acquitted Ms Csomorova of the more serious allegation of stalking causing serious alarm or distress. No verdict was reached on the simpliciter allegation of stalking.

After arguments over the Crown Court's jurisdiction to try a summary only alternative not on the indictment following an acquittal of the indictable allegation, the Crown decided against a retrial on the alternative matter.
