University employee escapes a fare evasion conviction

Our client worked in IT in a university. As he had direct contact with students, some of whom were under 18, he was subject to an enhanced DBS check. A criminal conviction would almost certainly have led to him losing his job. It also would have made it very difficult to obtain similar employment. The client sent TfL representations drafted by 5 Paper Building's barrister. TfL read the representations, and were persuaded that the case would best be resolved by way of a Formal Warning letter. The client paid TfL's administrative costs, and escaped a conviction.
