Extradition law can be deeply complex, combining both civil and criminal law as well as political and international human rights considerations.

With its roots in our established position within criminal law, our extradition group continues to go from strength to strength. Combining practical problem-solving with technical excellence, we enable our clients to negotiate from a position of maximum advantage at each stage of proceedings.

We are particularly well-positioned to advise on the impact of the European Arrest Warrant and other counter-terrorist legislation, drawing on our substantial experience of complex crossborder proceedings as well as our extensive European human rights practice.

Notable work undertaken by the extradition practice group includes:

	acting for a defendant in extradition proceedings in the House of Lords;
	representing the State at applications for habeas corpus and judicial review in the High Court;
	representing individual defendants both at committal stage in extradition proceedings and in the High Court upon related applications for habeas corpus and judicial review;
	representing the State at the committal stage in proceedings for extradition from the UK to a wide range of countries; and
	advising overseas defendants in relation to extradition to the UK.
