The Chambers Trading Standards Practice Group is extremely well equipped to deal with all aspects of criminal, consumer and Trademark Law. Chambers has experience in Enterprise Act Orders (Civil) and criminal defence and prosecutions. Members of Chambers have lectured at successive Trading Standards Conference on the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, and the Fraud Act.
Members of the team have prosecuted for Norfolk CC, Herts CC, Suffolk CC, Essex CC, Kingston-upon-Hull City Council, Bedfordshire CC, London Borough of Brent and Harrow, London Borough of Waltham Forest, London Borough of Camden, London Borough of Islington, London Borough of Merton and many others.
Members of the team defend individuals, partnerships and limited companies. Members also regularly appear on behalf of two supermarket chains on a number of issues ranging from pricing and out-of-date food to product safety and heath and safety issues.
We work with the Assets Recovery Agency in conjunction with Trading Standards Departments and confiscation proceedings. As a group we also provide advice on new legislation, review of operational procedures and 'due diligence' issues, and training seminars on relevant issues on a regular or ad hoc basis. Trade Descriptions, Pricing Offences, Consumer Credit, Property Misdescriptions, Trade Mark and Copyright Theft, Product Safety, Environmental Law, Health and Safety, Food and Food Safety, Ticket Touting and Underage Sales.
