Acquittal of young professional on appeal after guilty pleas in the Magistrates’ Court

Josh Normanton, instructed on a direct access basis for an appeal in the Crown Court, ensured a successful appeal for a young professional accused of fare evasion offences. The client had pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court without legal advice. He then realised his job was in jeopardy as he no longer had a clean advanced CRB check. Josh was then instructed and managed to persuade the Crown Court to hear the appeal after a guilty plea had been made in the lower court. Josh then negotiated with the train company so that they did not challenge the appeal. The result was that the client was acquitted of all charges and maintained his good character.
