Two businessmen found guilty after five week trial

Miranda Moore QC, leading Michael Attenborough, prosecuted two men for a series of frauds worth in excess of £1.5m. The wide ranging fraudulent activity included: an attempted takeover of Hartlepool United Football Club; forging documents from the government of Malta in order to obtain credit; and an attempt to abuse the tax credit scheme available for investment in research and development. After a five-week trial, convictions were secured in respect of each of the frauds. The defendants will be sentenced in November.
