Jennifer was taken on as a tenant at 5 Paper Buildings after successfully completing her pupillage.  Over the last 4 years she has gained experience in a wide range of criminal cases and regularly appears in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Courts and Youth Courts across London and the South-East in cases involving offences of violence, public disorder, drugs, driving offences and fraud. 

PROSECUTION

Jennifer prosecutes on behalf of a number of independent agencies and Government departments.  She is regularly instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute a range of criminal offences in the Crown Court and has represented the Department of Work and Pensions in cases of benefit fraud.  She has been instructed by the Serious Fraud Office in two cases.  In the first case, a multi-handed conspiracy to defraud, she worked as part of a small team responsible for the primary and secondary disclosure review.  More recently, she was instructed as second junior counsel for a period of 18 months, during which time she worked closely with the case team in preparing the case and in particular, drafting the prosecution case statement and conducting the disclosure review.  Jennifer also frequently represents the Federation Against Copyright Theft and the Media Protection Services in relation to the illegal broadcasting and criminal infringement of intellectual copyright. 

DEFENCE

Jennifer is regularly instructed to represent defendants at all stages of criminal proceedings, from the first appearance in the Magistrates’ Court, through to trial and sentence, and where appropriate at confiscation or enforcement hearings.  She often advises clients as to their rights and prospects of successful appeal against conviction and/or sentence.  She has successfully represented an appellant in the Court of Appeal in respect of an appeal against sentence.
